FBI arrests 20-year-old Ohio man who wanted to 'wage jihad' on US, plotted attack on Capitol

CINCINNATI –  A 20-year-old Ohio man's Twitter posts sympathizing with Islamic terrorists has led to his arrest on charges that he plotted to blow up the U.S. Capitol and kill government officials.

Federal authorities on Wednesday identified the man as Christopher Lee Cornell, also known as Raheel Mahrus Ubaydah.

Cornell, who lives in the Cincinnati area, allegedly told an FBI informant they should "wage jihad," and showed his plans for bombing the Capitol and shooting people, according to a criminal complaint filed in federal court.

The FBI said Cornell expressed his desire to support the Islamic State.

Authorities say Cornell was arrested Wednesday after buying two semi-automatic rifles and about 600 rounds of ammunition. But an FBI agent says the public was never in danger.

Fatwa declares Pakistan constitution a perfect Islamic document, fully Sharia-compliant

The federal government of Pakistan obtained this fatwa in order to try to stave off the Taliban, which is demanding that Sharia be implemented. The ominous aspect of the fatwa is that it ratifies Pakistan’s existing legal system, including the blasphemy law that Islamic supremacists use to victimize so many non-Muslims. “Religious decree: ‘Constitution completely in line with Sharia,’” from the Express Tribune, February 15 (thanks to The Religion of Peace):

The federal government on Friday obtained a fatwa (religious decree) declaring the Constitution of Pakistan completely in accordance with Islam from one of the country’s most prominent clerics, preempting any demand for the enforcement of Sharia the Taliban may voice during peace talks.

“Our Constitution is a complete document. The presence of 22 clauses proposed by the then leading religious scholars in the 1973 Constitution make it a perfect Islamic document,” observed Rafi Usmani, President of Jamia Darul Uloom Karachi.

In the three-page document which contained his recommendations, Usmani, who claims to be Pakistan’s grand mufti, condemned any move to create doubts regarding the Constitution. A copy of the document is available with The Express Tribune.

“Yes, when we talk about the implementation of Sharia laws, the government did a culpable negligence by not implementing these [22] clauses in letter and spirit,” Usmani had said after meeting with Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan.

However, those creating such confusions, he added, should know all sects had unanimously agreed to the 22 clauses.

The interior minister met senior clerics from Darul Uloom Karachi, Jamia Farooqia, Jamia Binoria and Jamia al Rashid, along with other leading clerics in Karachi on Thursday night.

To create confusion about sensitive documents and to damage national unity is a condemnable act, particularly at a time when Pakistan is facing worst kind of unrest, the clerics had said.

Iran's Supremo: Americans are enemies of Islamic Revolution and of Iran, negotiations will not bring an end to this enmity

None of this will shake the conviction of Iran and the mainstream media that the Iranian mullahcracy is now “moderate,” and the Iranians know it. They know they can act with complete impunity, and nothing will stop Barack Obama and John Kerry from granting them concessions and helping them attain their nuclear goals.

The American president, with utter insolence, supported the people behind the [2009] strike in Tehran, and he supported them recently once again.

On March 21, 2013, in Mashhad, I declared that I have nothing to say [about the nuclear issue]. Some officials in the previous government, and some in the current government, believe that the nuclear issue can be resolved through negotiations with the US. I said: If you insist on negotiation with them on this specifically fine. But in the same speech, I said that I was not optimistic. I am not against it, but I am not optimistic.

Look, time after time, the Americans make stupid statements. One dishonorable American senator takes money from the Zionists in order to go to the Senate and curse the Iranian nation. He uses real curses, not just insults. He curses. Even their leaders have insulted Iran, but of course, our people punched them in the mouth on the recent Revolution Day.

The nuclear issue is merely a pretext for enmity. Even if the nuclear issue is resolved one day in line with US expectations although this is impossible they will seek something else instead. Note how the American spokespeople have talked about human rights, missiles, weapons, and so on. I am surprised at how the Americans are not ashamed to talk about human rights.

Iran will not violate its agreements and commitments, but the Americans are the enemies of the Islamic Revolution and of Iran. They are the enemies of the flag that you hold high, and these [negotiations] will not bring an end to this enmity.

Egypt: Islamic supremacist groups planned to attack synagogues

These synagogues are not active, but are preserved as Egyptian heritage sites. However, given the virulence of Islamic antisemitism, the visceral hatred against those whom the Qur’an designates as “the most intense of the people in animosity toward the believers” (5:82), they’re still targets for Islamic jihadists.

“‘Islamist groups planned to attack Egyptian synagogues,’” from Elder of Ziyon, February 15:

El Badil reports that members of “Ansar al Bayt al Maqdis”, one of the Sinai Islamist groups fighting in Egypt, have admitted to plotting to blow up synagogues in Cairo and Alexandria.

The report says that they were doing surveillance of the spots.

It further quoted security sources as saying that they wouldn't allow any such attacks and citizens should not worry.

I have not seen this verified anywhere else in Egyptian media.

It is hard to know what to believe, as the hatred of much of Egyptian media towards Islamists has caused them to make up stories in the past. It is quite possible that they want to ensure that the Jewish world is sympathetic towards Egypt’s crackdown on civil and human rights in going after Islamists. On the other hand, the idea that Islamists want to attack synagogues is also quite believable.

None of Egypt’s synagogues have any Jewish services anymore, and they are mostly preserved as part of Egyptian heritage.

Egypt upholds death sentence for 14 Islamic jihadists

These Islamic jihadists are from a group that calls itself Tawheed wal Jihad. Tawheed is the Islamic concept of absolute monotheism, and jihad is the Islamic doctrine of warfare against unbelievers. Yet the one thing that Western analysts routinely discount in their analyses of jihad terrorism is the religious motivation, despite the fact that the jihadists themselves constantly explain themselves in terms of Islam.

“Egypt upholds death sentence for 14 militants,” from Reuters, February 10:

CAIRO – The Egyptian presidency upheld the death penalty for 14 people convicted of attacking police in North Sinai in 2011, signalling the army-backed authorities’ determination to press a campaign against Islamist militants.

The condemned men, all from the Tawheed wal Jihad (“Monotheism and Holy War”) group, were sentenced in 2012 to hang for killing three police officers, an army officer and a civilian in attacks on a police station and a bank in the town of el-Arish in 2011.

Deposed president Mohamed Mursi of the Muslim Brotherhood did not sign off on the implementation of the sentences during his one year in office, which ended when the army deposed him after mass protests against his rule.

Mursi’s overthrow has triggered a wave of attacks on the security forces in North Sinai and further west in the towns of cities of the Nile Valley and Delta. The state has declared that it is in a war on terrorism.

Militant groups flourished in North Sinai in 2011, expanding into a security vacuum left by the collapse of state authority after the downfall of president Hosni Mubarak in 2011.

The army is waging a campaign there to reassert state authority. The military has said 16 hardline Islamists were killed in North Sinai air strikes last Friday….

UK's Guardian campaigns against female genital mutilation while whitewashing Islamic justifications for it

How can the Guardian realistically expect to end this practice if it is afraid to expose the Islamic justifications for it? No, Muslims did not invent female genital mutilation, and are not the only people who practice it. But they are the only group whose theological and legal traditions contain justification for it. Until that changes, many more women will fall victim to this practice, no matter what the Guardian does.

Muhammad is said to have justified the cutting of women’s genitals: “A woman used to perform circumcision in Medina. The Prophet (peace_be_upon_him) said to her: Do not cut severely as that is better for a woman and more desirable for a husband.” (Sunan Abu Dawud 41.5251) The problem with this is that the distinction between cutting and cutting severely is subjective.

Some Islamic authorities say that this is a weak hadith. That’s wonderful. I hope they manage to convince every Muslim authority in the world that this is the case. Unfortunately, many remain misunderstanders of Islam. A few examples:

Gambia: “Alhaji Abdoulie Fatty, the Imam of State House Mosque has rebuted [sic] claims published on 1st June edition of the Daily observer, entitled ‘Female Genital Cutting Unislamic’ as utter rubbish.” — Gambia’s Daily Observer, June 6, 2007

Egypt: “Omayma Idris, a Cairo-based gynaecologist, says that more than 90 percent of all married Egyptians today are thought to have undergone mutilation. After the prohibition, she says, one could see a decline, ‘but since the Muslim Brotherhood and other Islamists are in power in Egypt, the numbers are on the rise again; they encourage families to do it again.’…Salafists and representatives of the Muslim Brotherhood – the political home of Egypt’s President Mohamed Mursi – want to see female genital mutilation legalized again.” — Deutsche Welle, November 23, 2012

The late Sheikh Muhammad Sayyed Tantawi of Egypt’s venerable Al-Azhar University once called circumcision “a laudable practice that did honor to women.”

Indonesia: “The the Muslim intellectual Sumanto Al Qurtuby says the faction that supports tetesan [female genital mutilation] is linked to the Salafi and Wahhabi community, which together with other fundamentalist groups are concentrated in Bandung and Aceh. They believe that circumcision is ‘morally’ encouraged by Sharia, or Islamic law, and reiterated in the hadith, in anecdotes related to the life of the Prophet Muhammad.” — Asia News, December 7, 2012

Australia: “Islamic law permits by definition, by prophetic statement and by practice female circumcision” — Australian Imam Afroz Ali, The Australian, December 24, 2012

There is also justification for the practice in Islamic law:

• The first known record of female genital mutilation dates from the time of the pharaohs. The mummified body of a princess was found to have been genitally mutilated.

• Although the practice is mainly found in some Muslim societies, who believe, wrongly, that it is a religious requirement, it is also carried out by non-Muslim groups such a Coptic Christians in Egypt, and several Christian groups in Kenya. It is used to control women’s sexuality and fertility by mutilating their sex organs to make sex too painful.

• Over 130 million women living in the world today have been mutilated.

• 6,000 girls are mutilated daily in the Middle East, Asia, Africa and in diaspora communities.

• The practice is usually carried out by a “cutter” midwife in villages using a razor blade, but in some countries such as Egypt and Indonesia it is carried out in clinics and hospitals.

• Up to 24,000 girls are at risk of cutting in the UK, according to one estimate.

• The practice has been outlawed in the UK since 1985 but in 28 years no one has been prosecuted.

Taliban negotiators: No peace until Pakistan embraces Islamic law

This dogma in the West can only be questioned on pain of charges of “Islamophobia” and “bigotry”: the Taliban misunderstands, misinterprets and hijacks Islam, and true Muslims abhor its twisted version of their peaceful religion. Some Islamic apologists in the West even claim that the Taliban and Muslim leaders such as Maulana Abdul Aziz (pictured above) aren't Muslims at all. Yet these misunderstanding of Islam, these non-Muslims, these impious opportunists who only use religion as a cover, insist on Pakistan fully implementing Islamic law. The learned analysts offer no explanation for this anomaly.

Negotiators representing Taliban insurgents said Wednesday there was no chance of peace in Pakistan until the government embraces Islamic shariah law and US-led forces withdraw completely from neighboring Afghanistan.
The tough conditions appear to deal a blow to hopes that talks with the Pakistani government could end the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) insurgency that has rocked the nuclear-armed country since 2007.
Initial peace talks failed to get under way Tuesday when the government delegation refused to meet the militants’ negotiators, citing confusion about the make-up of their team.
The two sides are expected to try to meet again on Thursday or Friday, though no definite arrangements have yet been made.
Washington and Kabul have been deadlocked over a pact known as the Bilateral Security Agreement, which would allow some US troops to stay on in Afghanistan beyond 2014, with Afghan President Hamid Karzai refusing to sign it.
Its supporters say the pact is crucial to Afghanistan’s stability after the bulk of NATO forces pull out.
