Michael Dunn Found Guilty In Loud Music Trial

The jurors determining the fate of a white Florida man accused of killing an unarmed black teenager over an argument springing from that teen’s alleged refusal to turn down loud music returned a verdict on today. They found the accused, Michael Dunn, guilty of 4 charges (three being attempted second-degree murder) and hung on the 5th charge, first-degree murder.

Dunn insisted that he acted in self-defense when he fired a gun at four teens in an SUV in Jacksonville, Florida in 2012. Dunn was charged with three counts of attempted murder and one count of first-degree murder of one of those teens, 17-year-old Jordan Davis.

The racial tensions that have arisen as the result of this case have forced Duval County law enforcement to put in place a “comprehensive public safety plan” designed to cope with the potential for violence the verdict in this case could inspire.

Some have linked this case to the case against George Zimmerman for the murder of Florida teen Trayvon Martin, another unarmed black teenager killed by an armed white Hispanic man. However, there were no incidents of mass violence as a result of Zimmerman having been acquitted in that case in the summer of 2013.

Atlanta: Molotov cocktail, gasoline found in Iranian Muslim student apartment after he is severely burned in fire

Just a naive kid working up some fireworks, you greasy Islamophobe. “Explosive device, gasoline found in burned student’s apartment,” by Alexis Stevens for The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, February 5 (thanks to Benedict):
A suspected Molotov cocktail and several plastic bottles filled with gasoline and kerosene were found in the Midtown apartment of a Georgia Tech graduate student severely burned, police said Wednesday.
Saamer Akhshabi remains in Grady Memorial Hospital with third-degree burns over 90 percent of his body from the fire started in his apartment Tuesday afternoon in the 200 block of 10th Street, police said.
Late Tuesday night, it wasn’t known what caused the fire. But an FBI spokesman said the man’s burns were possibly from an incendiary device….

In addition to what police described as a Molotov cocktail.
