Venezuela urges Chile not to air opinions about internal affairs

Chilean Foreign Minister Heraldo Muñoz offered to mediate in government-opposition dialogue in Venezuela.

The Venezuelan Ministry of Foreign Affairs rebutted the remarks made by Chilean Foreign Minister Heraldo Muñoz, who offered help to resume government-opposition dialogue in Venezuela.

"The Venezuelan Ministry of Foreign Affairs calls on Foreign Minister Heraldo Muñoz to refrain from expressing any views on Venezuela's internal affairs, and requires through his ambassador to Venezuela an explanation on the content and extent of his statements," the communiqué reads.

The Venezuelan government "has not requested through public or diplomatic means any intervention in its affairs," the statement added.

In a press conference on Monday, Heraldo Muñoz said he hoped for the resumption of political talks in Venezuela, suspended in May 2014.

Stewart Rips Obama's Ambassador Appointments: Hey, Look! Democrats Can Be Corrupt Too!

When Nancy Pelosi was on The Daily Show recently, she told Jon Stewart there is corruption in Washington, but it’s mainly the Republicans’ fault. Well, Stewart used that as a jumping-off point Wednesday night to rip the Democrats a new one for engaging in some corruptive behavior of their own: President Obama rewarding big donors with appointments to ambassadorships.

Appointed ambassadors to Norway, Argentina, and Iceland have, for example, never been to any of the countries they are now expected to deal with. Stewart cried, “Have any of you f*cking people been to EPCOT Center?” They have, however, given lots of money to Obama, so, Stewart mused, it’s almost as if Democrats are actually capable of financial corruption too…

However, the U.S. ambassador to Russia is stepping down, and Stewart said this should be an opportunity for the White House to just pick someone “we aren’t that crazy about that then just sending them away.” Stewart’s nominee: Sean Hannity.

Jake Tapper: Argentina Ambassador Nominee Has Never Even Been to Argentina

CNN’s Jake Tapper doled out some subtle mockery of the U.S. ambassadorship nomination process on Friday by looking at the latest campaign fundraising bundler for President Barack Obama to face a congressional committee for confirmation.
As Tapper reported, Obama’s nominee to be ambassador to Argentina Noah Bryson Mament, “who just happens to have raised half a million dollars for President Obama and the Democrats” testified before Congress this week and “got tripped up on what you might think would not be too difficult a question: if he’d ever been to Argentina.” While he told the panel he has traveled “extensively around the world,” he has not made it to that country.
And while Obama has said that “some” of his ambassador appointees could be “political,” Tapper found that the “majority of President Obama’s second term ambassadorial nominations have been political.” He cited research showing that Obama has appointed 23 major fundraisers who brought in over $16.1 from him since 2007.

Something tells me that we shouldn’t be surprised that people are trying to spy on our communications. After all, we were doing this to our allies, weren’t we?

I blame a rogue NSA agent who recorded the call.

I seem to remember the press reacted with condescending hilarity when, during the election, Romney described Russia as our most concerning geopolitical foe.
Just one more propaganda error the press can now confess to having inflicted upon the country.
