Fmr. Head of Meteorological Assoc.: We've Forgotten How to be Cold Because of Global Warming

Dr. Marshall Shepherd, the former head of the American Meteorological Association, appeared Sunday on CBS’ Face the Nation to opine on winter weather affecting the East Coast while a drought impacts the West. He said that the public has largely forgotten how to cope with severe winter weather because those events have become rarer as global warming accelerates.

Shepherd began by criticizing climate skeptics who have said that the existence of cold weather in winter controverts the theory of man-made global warming. He said that this reaction was like saying “because it’s nighttime, the sun doesn’t exist anymore.”

Shepherd added that winter weather is also the result of climate change in the same way that as warm weather is the result of climate change. “We know that climate change is happening and humans are contributing,” he asserted.

“I think we’ve forgotten how to be cold or deal with snowstorms, because we’re seeing so few of these big storms like we’ve seen,” he added. “And that probably is because of climate warming.”

He closed by warning, however, that the public has to be cautious not to blame every weather event on climate change.

Moderate Rouhani rails against global Iranophobia conspiracy, says Zionist regime is very angry over nuke deal

The concept of “Iranophobia” is absurd, but that didn’t stop the purveyors of the concept of “Islamophobia.” And meanwhile, the “Zionist regime” is indeed angry over the nuclear deal, because it understands how disastrous the concessions that the U.S. made to Iran really are.
“Rouhani accuses foes of seeking to spread ‘Iranaphobia,’” from the Jerusalem Post, February 6:
Iran does not pose a threat to the world despite attempts by the Islamic Republic’s enemies to conjure a worldwide conspiracy of “Iranaphobia,” Iranian President Hassan Rouhani has claimed.
“Our enemies want to establish ‘Iranophobia’ across the world; to tell the world that Iran is a threat,” he said in an interview Wednesday with state television in Tehran.
“Under the pretext of Iranophobia, the killers are able to do whatever they want in the region and interfere however much they want,” Rouhani added.
Despite Western concerns over Iran’s disputed nuclear ambitions, Rouhani stated that his country’s activities were “completely peaceful”.
Under the terms of an interim deal reached in November between Iran and six world powers, Tehran agreed to limit parts of its nuclear program, in exchange for the easing of some international sanctions.
Rouhani charged that a deal on the “Iranaphobia conspiracy” must first be reached before the international community decides to impose any new sanctions on the Islamic Republic.
“This move (the nuclear deal) has caused much anger among our enemies. You can see that the radicals in America are saying something new every day,” Rouhani stated.
US lawmakers have some influence over Iran policy because of their ability to pass legislation imposing fresh sanctions on Iran, something US President Barack Obama has opposed during the current negotiations and threatened to veto.
However, the Iranian president cited what he said was Israeli displeasure over the interim nuclear deal as one of the apparent benefits viewed by his country from the Geneva nuclear talks.
“The Zionist regime is very angry and our dear people witness how upset they are with this agreement. I want to state that this is the first success of the great nation of Iran in cooperating with the world,” he said.

Bill Nye, Creationist Ken Ham Square Off in Post-Debate Battle over Evolution, Global Warming

Bill Nye “The Science Guy” and Creation Museum founder Ken Ham squared off on CNN following their big debate Tuesday night, taking on both evolution (the subject of their debate) and global warming, an issue posed to both men by Piers Morgan.

Ham attributed the big snowstorms this week to how the world is “winding down,” and Nye, very respectfully, said he is “very skeptical” of any supernatural explanations for extreme weather and of anything having to do with a great flood.

Morgan took Ham on over the fact that despite the vast majority of climate scientists affirming the fact of global warming, a significant number of people remain skeptical. He also asked Ham about whether he believes that dinosaurs coexisted with man, which Ham said there is “a lot of evidence” to support.

Nye simply sighed and bemoaned how if many Americans remain scientifically illiterate, the next generation of young Americans will not be able to “embrace the process of science.”
