Remains of 'blood sucking monster' found in cellar leave shaken locals fearing for their lives

Bones of contention: Farmers believe these to be the remains of the feared creature 'El Chupacabra'

A group of farmers are living in fear after discovering what they believe are the remains of a blood-sucking monster.

Goat farmer Javier Prohens, 45, and pals were eating lunch when terrified Bricio Saldivar, 54, came running towards them.

The flabbergasted farmhand had stumbled upon remains of the bodies of unidentified creatures on the outskirts of Monte Patria in Chile.

And Javier fears they belonged to a mythical, blood-sucking creature.

He said: "He was clearly scared and said he had been up at the old winery and found two strange bodies. When we got there we saw them lying among some hay bales in one of the cellars.

Mystery: Locals reckon these are the bones of a fearsome hopping beast that feasts on goat blood

"At first we thought they might be bats, but when we looked closer we realised they had to be something else as the heads were far too big for bats.

"And then someone said they looked like chupacabras."

Literally meaning ‘goat sucker’, the chupacabra is a reptile-like mythical creature with leathery green-grey skin and sharp spines running down its back.

It's rumoured to live in Central and South American countries and is said to be about 4ft tall and able to hop like a kangaroo.

The name comes from the monster's habit of attacking and drinking the blood of livestock, especially goats.

Chilling: The unexplained remains have left some farmers fearing for their lives

Horrified local farmer Querubin Lebron, 38, said: "Our livelihoods are built on goat farming. There are lots of goats here.

"Although it's said they only attack animals who knows if it won't attack our children too."

The last reported sighting of a suspected chupacabras was in April last year when a couple from Texas said they had captured one.

It was later found out to be a raccoon suffering from scabies.

You don't want to scare a Sperm whale - moment it POOS on divers in self-defence

These pictures show the disgusting moment a group of divers found themselves swimming in a sperm whale's POO cloud.

The massive mammal released the gush of brown in what is believed to be a defence mechanism.

Described as a 'poonado' by Canadian photographer Keri Wilk, the flush of faeces was snapped off the island of Dominica in North America by four divers.

The whirlpool of whale waste spanned a gut-wrenching 30 metres - and to make things worse Keri revealed he was only using a snorkel and goggles at the time.

Keri said: "Four of us got into the water near the whale, then it slowly approached us, stopped, and pointed itself straight down before storm began.

"At first, it seemed like a regular bowel movement but rather than continuing its dive down, it remained at the surface and continued to defecate for a startling length of time.

"Four of us looked at each other with confusion, then back at the whale, expecting that any second its call from nature would come to an end.

"Instead, the whale bobbed up and down, spun in circles and waved the poo in every direction for several minutes while we just sat back and watched.

"The water was crystal clear, initially, and was the most idyllic Caribbean blue water that you could imagine.

"After a few waves of faeces were released and stirred vigorously by the whale, the water was like chocolate milk, I couldn't see my hand when I held it in front of my face.

"I had poop in my eyes, mouth, wetsuit, everywhere and I was soaked in it from head to toe.

"But, after leaving the cloud, it quickly washed away, and didn't leave a smell on us.

"I did take an extra long shower once I returned to shore later that day, just in case.

"I've never heard of it happening before, and I don't know anyone that has had this happen, it very well could be the first time that it has been photographically documented."

Amazing deep-diving dog captured on GoPro camera as he retrieves ball from bottom of riverbed

This daring chocolate Labrador wasn't going to let the small matter of a deep riverbed get in the way of him retaining his favourite toy.

Showing his incredible diving skills, he swims straight to the bottom to get it.

Filmed on a GoPro camera by the dog's owner, the confident canine can be seen paddling through the water before taking a deep breath and plunging under the water,

Head first, the amazing pooch swims right down to the sandy riverbed, touches it with his nose and kicks back up to the surface with his back legs.

Uploaded to Instagram by Bryce Lund, known on the social media site as blund44, the dog's owner accompanied the footage with a series of hastags which suggested the clip had been filmed in the Smith River in California.

And the chocolate Labrador's trick has obviously impressed some of the site's users.

One commented: "No way, I've never seen a dog dive that deep,"

Another summed up their thoughts with a simple, "WOAH".

Man jailed for repeatedly raping a drunk tourist

Manchester, UK: A sex beast who befriended a drunk tourist before raping her twice in an alleyway has been jailed for 12 years.

Stephen Johnson, 29, was found guilty of carrying out the horrific attack on a 20-year-old victim while she was visiting Manchester.

A court heard how Johnson approached the woman as she stopped to on a bench in Piccadilly Gardens in the city centre and asked for a cigarette.

As they sat and talked, Johnson realised the woman was drunk and took advantage of her vulnerability to lead her away.

He touched her inappropriately then pulled her into an alleyway, pushed her to the floor and raped her, Manchester Crown Court heard.

Johnson hid when a car passed, but then followed the woman and raped her again.

Despite her feeling faint, he continued to assault her, until she finally managed to escape and run to where two refuse collectors were working nearby.

They called the police and Johnson was arrested over the attack which took place on June 12, 2013.

He denied the offence and put the victim through a further ordeal by giving evidence at a trial.

A jury convicted Johnson of rape and sexual assault and jailed for 12 years yesterday.

Detective Constable Emma Cyprien, of GMP’s Serious Sexual Offences Unit, said: "Johnson could clearly see the victim was in no state to consent to any sexual activity and is a reflection of his character that he took advantage of her, raped and sexually assaulted her.

"She has had relive her ordeal in court and I must credit her for standing up to Johnson and helping ensure justice has been done.

"I would like to commend the two refuse collectors for assisting the victim and alerting the police.

"Their action meant that Johnson was identified and prevented the victim from sustaining further attack."

Johnson was also given a sex offender prevention order and has been ordered to sign the sex offenders’ register for life.

Doomsday Clock: Experts warn global catastrophe is much closer

The Doomsday Clock's minute hand has been moved forward by two minutes to 11.47 PM, with experts warning that a global catastrophe is closer than it's been in 30 years.

The symbolic clock, founded in 1947, represents a countdown to possible global catastrophe through nuclear war or climate change.

It's maintained by a board of scientists, academics, and security specialists who periodically change the time - back or forward depending on the level of global risk.

The closer the clock is to midnight, the closer humanity is to a major disaster. The last time the clock was moved forward was in 2012, by just one minute, over nuclear weapons stockpiles and global climate change.

This year's jump of two minutes brings us closer than we've been to a major disaster since the peak of the Cold War.

The rationale for the 11.57 timing is, according to the Bulletin of the Atomic Scientists (BAS), the continued lack of action over climate change and weapons as well as increased tensions between nations with nuclear warheads - particularly Russia and the USA, which have come to blows over the Ukraine crisis.

"The danger is great, but our message is not one of hopelessness," said Kennette Benedict, BAS executive director, speaking at an announcement today.

She mentioned greenhouse gases transforming the Earth's climate in a dangerous way, leaving millions of people at risk from rising sea levels, famine and “killer storms”.

Benedict said that the BAS was "imploring" citizens to "speak clearly and demand leaders to take necessary steps".

"We're not saying it's too late, but the window for action is closing rapidly. The world needs to awaken from its lethargy."

The BAS was founded in 1945 by physicists who had helped to develop the world’s first atomic weapons under the Manhattan Project. The Doomsday Clock launched in 1947, shortly after their atomic bombs had devastated Hiroshima and Nagasaki.

It's the second time the clock has been at three minutes to midnight. The first was in 1984, during the Cold War, where US-Soviet relations were at their most difficult.

In 1953 it inched to 11.58 - the closest the clock has ever been to midnight - after the United States and the Soviet Union tested nuclear devices within 9 months of each other.

Thieves use a tractor to rip ATM machine from city wall in daring late night raid

York, UK: Audacious thieves used a JCB digger to rip a cash machine from a wall in an overnight raid.

The cashpoint was dragged out of the wall of the Co-op store in Haxby, York, at around 2.25am yesterday morning.

And the crooks fled the scene with the stolen cash machine in a separate vehicle, abandoning the JCB in the store's car park. Police were called to the incident and found the JCB telehandler still at the scene.

A spokesperson from York CID said: "The investigation is at a very early stage and we are trying to gather as much information as possible to help with our inquiries.

"I am appealing to anyone who saw or heard anything suspicious in the area in the early hours of Thursday morning to get in touch with the police or Crimestoppers as soon as possible."

Jenny Bell, from Haxby Town Council, said: "A JCB drove into the front of the Co-op store. It's still there and whoever did it has taken away the cash machine.

"The cash machine is now missing. How they took it away I do not know."
