Jermain Taylor, boxing champ, accused of pointing gun at kids

A Little Rock, Ark., woman says middleweight boxing champion Jermain Taylor pointed a gun at her 5-, 3-, and 1 year old children, threatened to kill them and her husband, and fired into the air.

Taylor who already faces charges in an August shooting in Maumelle, Ark. was arrested shortly after the incident Monday and is jailed on charges of aggravated assault, endangering the welfare of a minor and drug possession.

Toya Smith of Little Rock told the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette that Taylor became enraged when her five-year-old son dropped the boxer's championship belt that he had taken to the Martin Luther King Day parade.

A Little Rock police report says Taylor was arrested without incident and a gun was recovered.

Taylor's attorneys did not immediately return phone calls for comment Tuesday.

Mr. Incredible convicted of assaulting Batgirl on Hollywood street

A man who dresses as the superhero character Mr. Incredible was convicted of assaulting a woman costumed as Batgirl in a scuffle outside the Hollywood & Highland Center, prosecutors said Tuesday.

Muhammet Bilik, 35, was sentenced to one day in jail, three years probation, community service and anger management sessions after pleading no contest Monday to one count of battery, the City Attorney’s Office announced.

Video of the Oct. 22 tussle between Bilik and Batgirl was broadcast by several news outlets. It showed someone in a Chewbacca costume attempting to stop the brawl, which ended with Mr. Incredible flipping Batgirl onto the sidewalk.

According to prosecutors, LAPD officers interviewed the victim on Nov. 7, after she had returned to Hollywood Boulevard. She identified Bilik as her assailant and confirmed what the video showed, prosecutors said.

City Attorney Mike Feuer said Bilik’s conviction is part of an effort to crack down on violent incidents on Hollywood Boulevard. Over the past six months, city prosecutors have secured convictions in seven cases involving costumed characters, he said.

“Hollywood Boulevard is famous around the globe and attracts millions of visitors each year. We must keep it safe,” he said. “The characters who interact with children and family along Hollywood Boulevard have to obey the law.”

Turf wars between costumed characters have been known to erupt in the past and the fight involving Bilik prompted City Councilman Mitch Farrell to call for regulating activity on the popular tourist strip.

In 2010, officials considered requiring the characters to obtain permits, but ultimately decided against it.

Woman Drowned Puppy In Airport Toilet After Not Being Allowed To Board Plane With Animal

After Nebraska airport workers refused to allow her to board a plane with a three-week-old puppy, a woman allegedly went into a nearby bathroom and drowned the animal in a toilet bowl, police allege.

Cynthia Anderson, a 56-year-old Florida resident, was arrested Friday afternoon at the Central Nebraska Regional Airport in Grand Island. Anderson, seen at right, was charged with animal cruelty.

According to cops, Anderson first tried to board a plane Thursday with three uncaged puppies, but was turned away by airport personnel. After her parents took two of the dogs, Anderson returned to the airport Friday with the remaining puppy (which she sought to conceal in a carry-on bag).

After she was again denied boarding, Anderson allegedly killed the Doberman puppy. A cop summoned to the airport reported, “On my arrival I learned a 3 week old puppy had been drowned in the toilet after a woman tried 3 times to get it on the plane.”

Anderson was arrested after police interviewed her and “numerous witnesses,” including a woman who discovered the dead dog.

Police reported that, “The puppy was taken to the Humane Society and autopsied. It was found to have water in one of its lungs.”

Anderson remains locked up in the Hall County jail on the felony count.

Man ‘demands sex’ from sister in-law to settle debt

A Gwanda man, caught in his brother’s bedroom at night chatting to his sister-in-law, stabbed his elder sibling several times with a knife after being asked about his intentions.

James Gandidzanwa, 25, of West Nicholson, was yesterday arraigned before Gwanda magistrate Olivia Mashava Mashaire facing charges of assaulting his brother, Justice Ndlovu, 32.

He pleaded guilty and was remanded in custody to today for sentencing.

Prosecuting Getrude Zvidzai told the court that on January 21, at around 8PM, Gandidzanwa approached his brother’s wife demanding his money.

Zvidzai said Ndlovu’s wife told Gandidzanwa to wait for her husband’s return as he was not around.

“The accused person then insisted on sleeping with his brother’s wife as a way of recovering his money. Gandidzanwa started quarrelling with his brother’s wife and that is when the complainant arrived and inquired what the noise was all about. This angered Ndlovu who then drew a knife and stabbed his brother several times on the back, twice on the left arm and once on the right hand. Gandidzanwa sustained injuries,” Zvidzai told the court.

The magistrate ordered the State to clarify whether the injuries sustained by Ndlovu would cause permanent disability.

In his defence, Gandidzanwa said he was provoked by his brother into attacking him.

“Your Worship, I admit that I stabbed my brother several times with a knife on his back but he was the aggressor. He attacked me after learning that I’d been chatting to his wife in their bedroom, which angered him.

“My brother’s wife is the one who called me into their bedroom indicating that her husband was away. What I don’t agree with is that I intended to have sexual intercourse with my sister-in-law,” he said.

Gandidzanwa said he had taken the knife from his brother after disarming him.

“He grabbed me armed with a knife and an altercation ensued. I disarmed him but in the process, injured my palm. I can’t remember how many times I stabbed him but it was more than four times,” he said.

He pleaded for the court’s leniency in passing the sentence, saying that he had given his brother $20 for medical attention.

Too ugly to love? Deaf dog with odd-coloured eyes like Mila Kunis in pound for two YEARS

Buddy, who suffers from heterochromia, has been waiting at a dog pound for two years while hundreds of other more attractive dogs are given new homes

Rare condition: Mila Kunis and Buddy both have heterochromia

A deaf dog with odd-coloured eyes like Mila Kunis has been declared "too ugly to love."

Buddy the lurcher suffers from heterochromia like the Hollywood actress - the condition is harmless but affects the pigment colour of one eye.

But while the Friends with Benefits star has since had surgery to correct the problem, the poor pooch has been waiting at a pound for two years to find a new home.

Around 1,000 more attractive dogs have since been taken in by families, while the only attention Buddy receives is when he visits prisoners behind bars to help with their life skills.

Susan Tonner, manager of the Dogs Trust, in West Lothian said: "Every time a prospective owner visits he leaps with joy in the hope they will stop at his door."

She says they occasionally pause for a moment or two - but quickly move on and set their hearts on one of his neighbours.

Some may be put off by his odd eyes - one is blue and the other brown. while others feel the prospect of learning doggy sign language is a commitment too far.

Still smiling: Buddy the lurcher has been declared 'too ugly to love'

"If someone got to know him like the staff here do they would have an absolutely lovely, loyal dog," she said.

"He is good in cars, he travels really well. We've had him in a house so we know he's house-trained. He is very, very friendly, it just needs somebody to build up some time and trust with him."

The playful pooch was brought into the shelter as a stray, and staff quickly noticed he did not respond to commands like most other dogs.

They established he was partially deaf and started teaching him basic sign language.

Susan added: "We would be looking for a home that would understand deaf dogs or be patient with him.

"If there is something coming towards him that he's not expecting he can be jumpy, so we are looking for someone who understands that and will be calm and reassuring."

Different colours: Buddy has been snubbed by many a loving family

Figures released by the Dogs Trust last week revealed 174 dogs were brought into its shelters over Christmas and New Year - twice the normal rate.

After hearing of Buddy's plight, comedian and dog lover Paul O'Grady, 59, who recently presented a TV series from Battersea Dogs and Cats Home, urged the perfect owner to come forward.

He said: "He will make somebody a lovely pet, he really will. I wish him all the best."

Pauline Waller, who runs K9 Harmony behavioural dog training in Fife, which works with deaf dogs, has vowed to give free advice to anyone who takes Buddy on.

She said: "With any dog there is work...training a deaf dog is not harder.

"You'll use different techniques to train him but the love you will get from him is quite incredible."
